DESCRIPTION:Topic: Agreeing to fear and pain: Those who suffer well\, suffer less \nTime: Thursday\, 11th of January\, 6.30pm – 8.30pm (snacks are provided and hang-out from 6pm possible!) \nLocation: Wild Life Ranch\, 14208 W 96th Ave\, Arvada\, CO (Type “Skyrose Stables” into google for most precise location) \nAdmission: $15 (digitally via @mo-wildman\, 8135 or Paypal) \nI remember lying on the massage table as my teacher was pressing intensely into various tight spots on my lower stomach. Flashes of a bright round light above my head as I’m lying on an operating table rushed before my eyes. I felt nauseous\, sweating all over\, the smell of a sterile hospital room in my nose. All despite lying in a warm room in a secluded hotel and retreat center in a remote part of Spain. “You may want to run away right now and yet I recommend you let your body do what it is designed to do and agree to your fear.” he told me. I relaxed back and let my body wriggle and contort. For the first time in over a decade I began feeling sensations other than numbness in that part of my belly. My digestion improved considerably\, as did my ability to stay present when I got afraid in conversations. And the surgeries I had long forgotten taught me a valuable lesson about how my body indeed keeps the score. \nWhatever it is that you are suffering from\, I’m convinced that your lack of ability to be with fear and pain is contributing to it. And don’t worry! What we will do at this evening will not be as intense as pressing into some of the worst and most impactful trauma spots in your body that I described above. And yet\, we will play with the same concept that my teacher Avi Grinberg taught me: Paying attention to where we tighten and constrict in our bodies. And then putting even more pressure and even constricting against the tension and then\, finally\, agreeing to it and letting the body move how it may. \nI consider my practice of agreeing to feel fear and pain in my body as one of the most valuable skills I’ve picked up over the last 7 years. And what another teacher of mine by the name of Thich Nhat Hanh told me as I was living at his monastery rings more true than ever: Those who suffer well\, suffer less. You can’t escape suffering in your life on a regular\, even daily basis. Yet\, learning how to suffer well can make the biggest difference in developing a happier and more content life. \nSo come\, learn how to suffer well and then\, together\, we will suffer less! 😀 \nAt this meetup we will practice a simple pressure point massage game in pairs\, finding tight spots and noticing what it’s like to fight them and then release. We will also practice in dyads\, talking about how fear and pain shows up in our lives and pay attention to how this is serving us\, so we can become more intimate with it. And most importantly\, we will have fun as we witness each other in vulnerable and authentic states\, which often makes me wayyy more relaxed\, and embodied afterwards. \nAbout me\, your host\, Mo: After retiring at age 26 from founding a tech startup (Buffer) I fell into an empty space of nothingness\, disorientation and confusion. Over the last 7 years I dedicated myself to get to know myself in all the ways I was avoiding my inner experience. I learned how to orient myself less around money or success\, and more towards becoming powerful and alive. The biggest support I received in this transition has come from learning to notice the sensations and experiences of my body. Through living in Buddhist monasteries in the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition\, I’ve become a full-time student and sometimes teacher of embodiment practices\, specifically training in Somatic Experiencing\, studying the Grinberg Method\, studying with and then becoming the CEO of the Radical Honesty Institute and learning various meditation techniques that helped me tune into what I’m experiencing in my body. Since I lived most of my life from the neck up\, this shift has transformed me in so many ways and remains my biggest ongoing practice and is what I’d like to teach you. DESCRIPTION:We’re hosting a weekend freedom summit in Estes Park with lodging\, food\, group activities and alpine coaster tickets included. \nWe have an Air B&B booked for two nights in Estas Park and a bunch of tickets to ride an Alpine coaster. \nWe will be riding the Mustang Mountain Coaster and enjoying freedom and tranquility along with the community. \nWe will also be celebrating a birthday of a well-loved tribe member. \nFood and lodging provided\, donations appreciated but not required.  If you are unable to stay over night\, plan to at least come up Saturday Jan 27th to ride the coasters with us in the afternoon and have dinner with the tribe. Decolonization work is not just about outer systems of politics\, policy\, and institutionalization. \nDecolonization work is also about our inner systems\, our physical\, emotional\, psychological\, and spiritual bodies. It’s about remembering our birthrights and reclaiming ourselves as sovereign territory. \nHow colonization shows up in our bodies: \nThe colonizer IS trauma IS the inner and outer critic IS the pain body \nWhen it comes to our inner systems and our mental\, physical\, and spiritual health\, the colonizer we must address is the one that lives within. For some\, this voice is loud. For others\, it’s very subtle. Some call this voice the inner critic\, some call it the shadow\, some call it expectation\, some call it stress\, and some call it should. It has many names\, but the effects are all the same. It blocks you from accessing your full\, energetic potential; it keeps you bogged down in stress\, tension\, shame\, guilt\, and self-doubt and ruled by attachment instead of liberation in authenticity. In this ceremony\, we will begin liberating your body and deepening your connection to the authentic urge that is your true natural essence. Your God-given birthright. \n  \nThe significance of our ceremonial cacao paste blend: \nThe cacao used in this ceremony comes from the Dominican Republic\, the first country Christopher Columbus colonized in 1492. This cacao holds the energetic signature of that event and simultaneously holds medicine for the colonized heart. Cacao is a heart opener and intention amplifier. In this ceremony\, we will be working with it to encourage our hearts to open bravely and honestly so that we can connect with the origin codes of our human family\, The Great African Mother\, Mitochondrial Eve. \n  \nAfrican Blue Lotus- Visionary Euphoric Psychic protection Ancestral Vision Questing  \nBlue lotus is a beautiful aquatic plant native to the muddy shallow waters of the Nile River in Egypt. DESCRIPTION:Celebrate Native American culture and heritage at the 48th annual Denver March Powwow. \nThe Denver March Powwow features more than 1\,500 dancers from close to 100 tribes from 38 states and three Canadian provinces. \nThe three-day event takes place in late March\, in the  and is packed with singing\, dancing\, storytelling\, food and art.\n\nSpectator’s guide  \nEach session of the Denver March Powwow begins with the colorful and stirring Grand Entry. It kicks off with the HeartBeat drum group singing the committee’s song\, “A Living Hoop.” Following them is an eagle staff and American Indian nation and other flags. Once everyone is in the dance arena and with the spectators still standing\, the flags are raised to the accompaniment of a flag song. This is followed by a song honoring veterans — the Victory Dance. There are two Grand Entries on Friday and Saturday and one on Sunday. \nThe Powwow spirit is an inclusive one\, and attendees can get in on the action during the Intertribal Dance\, featuring all the different styles of Powwow dancers and all different age groups dancing together. During these dances\, men and women of all age groups\, dancing all styles\, join together on the floor to the beat of a hundred drums in an unforgettable\, swirling sight of color. \nThe Jingle Dress Dance is another popular competition\, although actual ceremonial jingle dances are not performed in public. In this woman’s dance\, the dress is covered with dozens of silver bell-like “jingles” that make a distinctive and pleasing sound\, especially when the dance floor is covered with women wearing this melodic dress. \nIn addition to dance\, you can also listen to storytellers at the top of every hour\, as they share the legends and legacies of America’s indigenous people.  \nAt the Denver March Powwow\, there are more than 170 booths selling a variety of Native American artworks and products. Browse jewelry and blankets\, pottery and beadwork from some of the nation’s most skilled Indian craftsman. Try Native American foods such as fry bread and Indian tacos\, or buy an authentic Cheyenne arrow or a Sioux Tomahawk. The Denver March Powwow is a welcoming glimpse into a fascinating part of North American culture.
